Cowslips are the leading prosthetic device for treating lameness in New Zealand dairy cows. Developed in the UK by Dr Ernie Logan in the late 1980s, Cowslips are now trusted and widely used by farmers and veterinarians around the world. Plus is suitable for Holsteins, Friesians, and Beef breeds.

Before application, lift and clean the hoof, ensuring the cause of the lameness is correctly identified. The Cowslip should always be fitted to the healthy claw after any necessary treatment of the affected area. Applying the Cowslip to the sound claw relieves weight-bearing pressure on the damaged claw, allowing it to heal naturally.

Once fitted correctly, the Cowslip will remain securely in place and will shed naturally after two to three weeks, by which time recovery is typically complete.

Cowslips are available in three sizes to suit different breeds and body weights:

• Original (116 mm): for Jerseys, Guernseys, Heifers and Ayrshires
• Plus (129 mm): for larger and heavier cows
• X-Large (140 mm): for very large or heavy animals
